PROGRAM SUMMARY:
ECO places over 600 people each year through their four regional offices.
During the past two years their interns have been on assignments in over 35
states. ECO does not typically place people internationally.
ELIGIBILITY:
Many of the internship sponsors place eligibility requirements on the types
of applicants they will consider. Please check with each internship for
individual requirements.
An applicant is generally a:
* College graduate (AA, AS, BA, BS, MA, MS, Professional Degrees, and Ph.D.);
* Recent graduate of a special certificate program;
* Junior or senior
undergraduate or current graduate student.
STIPEND:
The average stipend is between $10 and $12 per hour, typically stipends
range from $7.50 to $15.00 per hour. Stipend will depend on the nature of
the internship, the type of organization sponsoring it, your level of
matriculation, your expertise and level of skill, and the region in which
you are placed. Internships range from 3 months to 2 years.

RELIEF International is a humanitarian non-profit agency that provides
emergency relief, rehabilitation, and development assistance to
victims of natural disasters and civil conflicts worldwide. RELIEF's
activities assist vulnerable communities in the health, shelter,
reconstruction, relief, education, community development and income
generation sectors.
RELIEF is seeking candidates for a public health research internship
position based in our Los Angeles headquarters office.
PROGRAM SUMMARY:
1) Princially work on a refugee multi-sectoral research project
involving the impact of resettlment projects on health, nutrition and
economic status of refugees.
2) Data analysis.
3) Provide comprehensive summaries of pertinent findings.
4) Obtain copies of pertinent reports, training manuals, and other
useful publications.
5) Help present research findings for presentations.
6) Work with staff to incorporate research findings into field
project designs.
ELIGIBILITY:
- MPH students preferred. Thorough knowledge of EPI Info is a
must. Excellent research and writing skills.
- Self-motivated, independent, interested in international public
health.
- Time Commitment: flexible. Minimum 8 hours per week.

The Los Angeles County Department of
Health Services is looking for an
intern for its Service Planning Area 4 Office. This office is responsible
for the health of nearly 1.5 million residents in the downtown, metro area
of Los Angeles. The downtown environment ranges from the high SES
financial district to the lowest SES rungs on Skid Row. Rates of
Tuberculosis and STDs are high, providing an excellent hands-on training
ground for Public Health Students wanting experience and wanting to
fulfill their internship requirement for graduation. Come join our highly
professional office.
PROGRAM SUMMARY:
This internship is designed to mutually benefit both the student and the
Public Health department. The intern will have the opportunity to work on
a number of exciting projects, including a Diabetes and Asthma Burden of
Disease report and a Tuberculosis Control Computerization project.

A student with knowledge of MS Access is desirable, but not necessary.
